Supporting Wildlife Conservation: The Audubon Center for Birds of Prey

The Central Florida Association of Environmental Professionals (CFAEP) recently hosted the Audubon Birds of Prey Luncheon that spotlighted a vital cause – the rehabilitation program at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland. This luncheon, part of a series of events throughout the year, highlighted the center’s ongoing initiatives and its critical role in avian conservation.

The Audubon Center, under the leadership of Executive Director Katie Warner for the past 22 years, has been a cornerstone in the rehabilitation and conservation of birds of prey.

One of the center’s projects involves the revamping of their original aviary, established in 1979. This octagonal structure, home to many owls over the years, requires a complete overhaul. The goal is to raise $500,000 for this crucial renovation, with efforts to start construction by next summer.

The work at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey is supported by numerous foundations, organizations, and individuals. This wide-ranging support underscores the community’s commitment to preserving and enhancing bird habitats and ensuring their survival for future generations.
