Bear Point Mitigation Bank
Bear Point Mitigation Bank provides state and federal mangrove credits within the Central Indian River Lagoon (Basin 22), which is within the St. Johns River Water Management District. Mitigation Bank credits are available to offset unavoidable wetland impacts in the Central Indian River Lagoon of Florida with WRAP credits (State) and E-WRAP (Federal). The Bear Point Mitigation Bank is a 317-acre mitigation bank that is located on St. Lucie County-owned wetlands adjacent to the Indian River Lagoon. The bank was permitted by both the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) and can be utilized as mitigation for impacts within the service area, from Sebastian Inlet to St. Lucie Inlet along the Indian River Lagoon. Restoration activities include enhancing water quality and wildlife habitat by increasing water exchange, removing exotic plants, and continuing to improve management practices.
